Essential Information for Group Rides

Welcome! Our rides are led by volunteers*. Please help them by following these simple guidelines.

Before the Ride

  • Ride a roadworthy bicycle.
  • Bring a spare inner tube that fits your bike.
  • Carry food, drink and suitable clothing.
  • Carry your ICE (In Case of Emergency) details, either on your phone or on a card.
  • Choose a ride that matches your ability. Any concerns, speak to the ride leader before you set off.

During the Ride

  • Follow the Highway Code at all times, keeping a close check on any children you are responsible for.
  • Ride within your own capabilities.
  • Listen to the Ride Leader’s briefing.
  • Tell the Ride Leader if you intend to leave the ride.
  • Warn others of hazards where appropriate.
  • Be considerate to other road users, pedestrians and fellow riders.
  • Look out for one another and help create a friendly, inclusive atmosphere.

If You Have a Problem

Tell the Ride Leader as soon as possible if you feel unwell, have a mechanical problem or are struggling to keep up.

* Remember: The Ride Leader is a volunteer guiding the group during their own holiday. It is likely they do not know the area well and navigation errors are likely! Please don’t criticise the person who is making the adventure possible – do help out where you can, to ensure that all involved have the best experience possible.
